Originally a quartet from Athens, Ohio, Papadosio is now a quintet hailing from Ashville, NC, traveling city to city across the nation on a mission, provoking thought and fueling the soul through progressive songwriting built for improvisational electronic/eclectic jams. With that said, Papadosio is stimulating more than just eardrums.

A band that plays over a hundred venues a year, and given their hectic schedule, they still managed to write a twenty song double-disc album, released October of 2012, titled “T.E.T.I.O.S.”

For those unfamiliar, the acronym stands for: To End The Illusion Of Separation. And contained in their music is a clear message of love and unity, which they deliver through more than just music, but also through a stage production that is quite impressive–five L.E.D. boards depicting images of natural environments, art like that of Alex Grey, scenes from network news. Their music offer words and subliminal messages that invoke thought, by connecting the senses of sight and sound. A modern psychedelic experience, which left me humbled and satisfied.

With thoughts of connectedness and self-reflection, I left the Jefferson eager to get these words out. It’s clear what Papadosio is trying to do with their performance. It’s more than music. It seemed everyone in attendance felt the positive vibes–so many smiling faces, hugs, and handshakes were shared, and I met many new faces and hopefully made a few long time friends.

As summer approaches many festivals have already announced their line-ups. While making the decision on which one(s) you will be attending, keep an eye out for Papadosio, especially Rootwire Music and Arts Festival, which is considered their own.  If you haven’t seen them before, or are a long time fan, you can be sure you’ll experience something truly special.
