Each day, most of us have the pleasure of waking up in the morning and turning on the faucet for a nice clean shower and a refreshing glass of water to drink. But what if you didn’t have the luxury of doing so? The harsh reality is: many people around the globe do not. Numerous organizations have been popping up around the country to help out with this cause. The festival world is no different. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine came to me with a revolutionary idea that has been manifesting into something beautiful and making steps to change the world, one shower at a time.

Shower City is an organization with a mission to reduce the ecological footprint at large events such as music festivals through the conservation of water. Their goal is to bring re-filtered water systems to outdoor events such as musical festivals and provide warm showers to attendees and a brand immersion experience for the event itself. In return, the company asks for donations for Charity: Water, a non-profit organization which also has many of the same goals in mind and the vision to provide safe drinking water to all. Just think: an outdoor shower that is helping to refresh you could be helping to make clean water available to those in developing countries!

How it works...

Since Shower City is in the initial start-up phase, they spent the season spreading the word and bringing in sponsorships for their cause. They have been raising awareness of their organization to promoters, sponsors, and people who will utilize these showers and improve their festival experience at events around the country. They are trying to build up capital through simple grassroots fundraisers and sponsorships to cover the costs of having these showers lined up at festivals.Photo4

The team made their way to the WerkOut Festival in Thornville, Ohio (FF.com’s Photos) to collect donations and educate people about their goals. As a birthday request, founder Dave Baiko asked that donations be made for the cause. Their work at the festival has allowed them to raise $2000 dollars thus far to help fund a fresh water project in a developing nation. Help from friends and strangers alike toward a common goal have really made this organization something special.

Please spread the word and join us in becoming a catalyst for change! Keep an eye out for upcoming events and ways to connect with the movement! Music festivals and outdoor events could quickly sponsor projects all over the globe! Check out the cause and learn more on the Shower City and Charity: Water Facebook pages. A little education can go a long way and together we can help raise enough money to fund water projects around the world! These guys are full of ambition and are guaranteed to have many artists, organizers, and fans supporting the fresh water cause!
