It may only be spring, but anyone who found themselves at Brighton Music Hall on Friday found themselves surrounded by a full summer vibe at one of the last east coast stops on the It’s All A Jam tour. The night started with Build a Machine, a band that formed in Boston and carried an awesome mix of funk and reggae. Next up was Soul Rebel Project, another incredible group hailing from Boston. They brought an awesome sound combining drum and bass rhythms with a rich reggae melody. The band was joined by Jamaican born Mighty Mystic who brought his own amazing reggae, hip-hop feel to the stage.FY5_564x600

Just when I thought this show couldn’t get more incredible, out comes Fortunate Youth, a South Bay area group made up of Dan Kelly (vocals), Travi Bongo (Percussion), Jered (Keys/ Bass), Greg (Bass/Guitar), Corey (Guitar/Bass/Keys), and Jordan (Drums). There wasn’t a still body or unhappy face in the crowd. The stage became a revolving door, with members from True Press, Soul Rebel Project, and Mystic Mike joining in on songs. Some of the songs from the set list included One Love, Love Won’t Leave Me Alone, Some Might Say, Burn One, Sweet Love, Ali’s Song, and Melody.

This was by far one of the most fun, positive, and energetic shows I have been to in a while and the cohesive sounds that all the artists had together was outrageous. Fortunate Youth will be touring the west coast all through April and May and will be performing at the Uplift Music and Arts Festival in Riverside, CA In June. If you can make it to any of their shows I highly recommend it!
