Who’s to say Stormtroopers can’t be hired as security at an EDM show… No one. Ever [insert Star Wars joke here]. On Friday,  August 29th 2014 the imperial guard teamed up with the legendary DJ duo The Crystal Method for a night of incredible dance, old school electronica, and a massive load of the force.

“The Crystal Method is to electronic dance music as is Luke Skywalker is to the Jedi Force.”

A long time ago in the year 1993 Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan bumped into each other while living it up in Sin City; some may call it a coincidence, others say its fate. Any way you look at it they met and went on to form the platinum selling group titled The Crystal Method.
 

The Crystal Method is to electronic dance music as is Luke Skywalker is to the Jedi Force (I swear that’s my last Star Wars reference). The duo have placed songs in films such as Fast and Furious 6, Tropic Thunder, and Zoolander to name only a few. Numerous top ten videos games will display their names in the credits. With nine total albums under their belts with their newest self titled out back in January, it’s safe to say there’s no stopping the true masters of electronica.
 
As I began photographing The Crystal Method’s set at the Avalon it quickly became apparent that all conventional practices of being a DJ went straight down the tube. I mean these dudes had CJDs (an instrument used to allow analogue control of music from CDs and/or USB memory cards) that took the form of a double-necked guitar with a midi keyboard at the bottom of it. Does anyone know if such item is for sale? I need one. My birthday is coming up.
 
At any rate Scott and Ken would tag team throughout the night to the packed dance floor below. A mixture of both young and old EDM fans moved and grooved to some of the duo’s greatest hits. Not a still body on the dance floor. Not a still body up by the “double-necked guitar midid keyboard CDJ.” And for the “stromtrooping” Stormtroopers? The force was incredibly strong with them, naturally.
